Two weeks ago Andrew and I went to Colorado to visit our friends Morgan and Kristen. They just bought a house a month ago and we couldn’t wait to see it! We arrived on Thursday morning and jumped right into an action packed day. Morgan works for Kia, the official sponsor of the NBA, and every year he gets to play in a “Court of Dreams” game. A bunch of Kia employees play basketball against each other and get to play at the Denver Nuggets arena – wearing the official Nuggets jerseys (with their name on the back). They also had an official announcer, cheerleaders and coaches. This year since we were going to be visiting, Andrew got to play in the game with Morgan. He was super excited about it! Kristen and I sat in the first row and cheered for our guys. It was really neat to be in the arena and so close to the court. After the game, we went upstairs where they had dinner and drinks for us. Then we got to go back down to watch the Nuggets play the Celtics. We sat in the 5th row from the court, which were the best seats I’ve ever had at an NBA game! It was awesome to see players like Kevin Garnett, Paul Pierce and Ray Allen. I know basketball players are tall but it’s ridiculous how big they are when you’re 10 feet away from them!
Friday, we took a quick day trip to Boulder and had lunch at a cozy little tavern. We walked around a little bit, but it was snowing out and a little windy so we didn’t do much shopping. Later that night, our dear friends, the Sola family, drove up from Colorado Springs to visit with us. We got to hang out with the kiddos – who by the way, have been growing like weeds! They are so entertaining and it is so fun to have conversations with them as they are becoming little chatterboxes! That night, we had a sleepover with them – and the next morning, they went on their way to Denver to take the kids to the Children’s museum. I absolutely adore the Sola kids and was so glad they came to hang out with us – and their mommy and daddy!!
Saturday, the guys went snowboarding at Copper Mountain and since I’m prego and can’t snowboard, Kristen and I drove to Vail. We spent the afternoon having lunch and walking around the cute shops. It is a really neat little town! That night we stayed in and ordered Chinese food since the guys were too tired to go out. It was nice just relaxing and spending time with them.
Sunday, was an exciting day for the O’Malley’s. They had been talking for a while about adding another dog to their family but weren’t decided on what breed. Morgan wanted a Golden Retriever and Kristen wanted another Golden Doodle. We took a trip (a very long trip to the middle of nowhere) to the breeders to take a look at what she had available. They had made it clear that there was NO WAY they were coming home with a puppy that day – they just wanted to look. Well, we all know what happens when you “just look”. About 2 hours later, after much cuddling and debating, we were back in the car with a new member of the O’Malley crew – a Golden Retriever we collectively named Cooper. He is absolutely adorable! We enjoyed spending the remainder of our trip playing with the little guy and helping him get accustomed to his new home.
All in all, the trip was a blast!! We had so much fun hanging with good friends and enjoying some new sites. Thanks again to the Sola family for making the trip to hang with us. And thanks to the O’Malley’s for hosting us for the long weekend. We love you guys and are so excited about the home you’ve made in Colorado (but secretly can’t wait until you come back to California).
